No one in the modern world can resist the swarms of new incoming data. A beep, a blink—it sets us on an odyssey to seek and yield, to fill the void of the rapidly emerging but disappearing. This race against time pounds our hearts and grants us with contentment.

Mindfulness, as suggested by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, emphasizes the importance of achieving the state of ‘emptiness’ through focused observation. Whether it be via paying close attention to your breathing pattern, or being consciously aware of your surroundings, one should allow themselves to fully immerse in the moment.

We often underestimate the power of scent. Our olfactory senses are deeply entwined with our autonomic nervous system. They interact with our limbic system, stimulate our endocrinal system, and affect our endorphin and serotonin levels. By beginning to look inside ourselves for enlightenment, and to grow aware of these subtle changes happening from within, we can gradually transcend into another time and space.

Slow down—and allow yourself to sink into this very moment of yours.

Would that be alright?
